This mural is badly faded, but otherwise in pretty good condition. It certainly has a good excuse for being faded since it was done more than 35 years ago. None of the other murals in the area that are approaching that age have held up as well. This one was designed around 1978 by architect John Martine. It's a simple welcome message for Birmingham, which is what this area of town was named in 1811. The land was given to John Ormsby by King George III and Mr Ormsby named it after Birmingham, England.
