State representative Chelsa Wagner sponsored a grant to get this mural for Beechview. The community formed a committee to choose the artist and the local citizens had a vote on the design. In Sept of 2008 more than 40 volunteers helped to paint a part of the mural that Henry Ryder had outlined for them in a paint-by-numbers scheme.
