When they announced the dedication of this mural, Neighbors in the Strip (NITS) published this description:

The mural, painted by Ian Thomas, is on the wall of WFH Oriental Food Market, owned by Benjamin An.
The mural was inspired by the Chinese city of Guilin, nestled among undulating green hills and the Li River, China's most beautiful and scenic river. The "gumdrop" hills and misty limestone pinnacles of Guilin's mystical landscape have inspired generations of painters and poets. The landscape creates the sense of a "City Lung" (a concept contributed by Ben An, the building owner) as a spot for meditation and contemplation of nature where the spirit can be restored along with the city air.

UPDATE:
After many attempts, we were finally able to get photos without cars parked in front of this mural! You would think that wouldn’t be so hard but you’d be wrong. These were taken literally at the crack of dawn on a Sunday morning. It was so early, we had to use headlights on the bikes on the way there.

Our Time by Ian Thomas

This bright, colorful mural represents the blue–colar, working class history of Greenfield. It wasn’t that long ago when the workers left each morning carrying a lunch box. Even if we never had a job like that, most of us can remember our father or uncle or some other relative with that familiar symbol of the middle class laborer.

Ian Thomas outlined this mural and added numbers for the appropriate colors to be filled in. Then local kids were invited to help with the giant paint–by–numbers project. True community participation and some great memories for those kids.
