Although the neighborhood of Carrick is named after Carrick on Suir (in County Tipperary, Southern Ireland), we found this mural of Carrick–a–Rede (Northern Ireland) along Brownsville Rd. It depicts the island of Carrick–a–Rede which connects to the the Irish mainland via a rope bridge that spans the roughly 65 foot chasm, 100 feet up. We don’t know if the artist chose this location by mistake (perhaps thinking it was the namesake of this community) or deliberately. It does happen to be a famous and highly photographed tourist spot.

In December of 2012, the community of Carrick placed a plaque at the mural to describe the symbolism. We found a detailed explanation on the mural and it's symbolism on the Carrick-Overbrook Historical Society site.
