The Sprout Fund started a program called "Neighbor to Neighbor" where they offered grants for small, local projects throughout the 18 Northside neighborhoods.  The projects would have to promote unity and community throughout the Northside and show support from the residents in order to receive the funding.

Linda Wallen's mosaic was one of the first projects to receive one of these grants.  For the additional funding, they used Ioby - a crowd-sourcing website specifically for neighborhood projects.  By June of 2015 they had the funding in place.  Over the next couple of months Linda Wallen and Amanda Wolfe worked with local residents to create a mosaic that would reflect the history of the neighborhood.

The mural was then installed at the base of the staircase that connects Deutschtown with Springhill.
